Week of November 12 and 19th!

Reading- This week we will focus on creating images using our Rigby reading series. For this comprehension strategy we will focus on the text to help us use our five senses to better understand what we read. On Thursday, your student will be able show what they have learned about creating images on the theme 6 ongoing test practice. Next week we will focus on literary analysis. We plan to read about Pocahontas. Later in the morning we will compare what we read about her to what we see in the classic Disney movie.

Writing- Tuesday your child will write a newspaper article and Wednesday your child will write a realistic fiction. Later in the week your child will choose one of them to publish and turn in for a grade. Next Monday, our focus for writing will be a quality literary analysis. This will be done together as a class.

Math- Beginning Tuesday we will shift from polygons/quadrilaterals to fractions (unit 3). Our focus this week will be a basic understanding of what a fraction is (equal parts, the denominator is how many is in one whole, and the numerator is how many are shaded) and unit fractions.

Science- This we our focus will be forces; specifically, magnetism and gravity. Our quarter two writing piece will be a report on magnets, so the information we learn in science will be extremely helpful to your student!
