Erin’s Law Reminder:
Erin’s Law
Please note that at Dunlap Grade School starting on April 10th, 2017, we will begin our Personal Body Safety lessons in response to the “Erin’s Law” Mandates (please see below). If you wish to review the content for the lessons, please contact your school counselor.

If you prefer your student not participate in this lesson, please contact Mrs. Kamin by April 7th , 2017 to obtain and sign the form to opt out. If you chose to opt out your child last year, you will still need to fill out a new form this year.

What is Erin’s Law? Erin’s Law requires all schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all students, K-12, yearly. The law also requires educators to take part in training classes that cover sexual abuse and how to recognize warning signs. On January 24, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a new law extending sexual abuse education in Illinois schools. The Illinois law went into effect immediately and schools had to implement Erin’s Law starting the 2013-14 school year.
