Theme 6: Roads to Travel On!

We started off by dividing into four teams: plane, train, boat, and car. Once we had our groups, the students were instructed to create a game that would resemble their mode of transportation. Check out the relay races they came up with!

Game 7Game 8

Boat Mania: The students had to run to the center of the court, hop on a scooter, “row” to the other side, “row” back to the half court line, and then run back!

Traffic Jam: The students had to zig zag through cones. A member from the opposing team had one throw to try and get them. If the person was able to “dodge the car,” they were able to continue running. If the student was unable to “dodge the car,” they had to finish going down and back on the scooter.

Chugga-Chagga-Choo-Choo: The students had to race to the center of the court, hop on a scooter, and pretend their hands were the wheels of a train!

Plane: The students had to hop through three “clouds” (hula-hoops), run to the center court, hop on a scooter to “fly” down to the other, “fly” back to center court, and run back to the starting line!

We were able to travel by:

car to the Illinois River- Where we were able to see Asian Carp flying into boats
boat to London- where we were able to learn about a cool new project called Project Cube
train to Canada- where we were able to watch the 2010 Olympic Hockey game (USA vs. Canada)
plane to Australia- where we were able to watch the very first winner of “The Voice: Kids Australia” be announced
